Great Weekend

This long weekend was much needed and highly anticipated since the start of the school year. New year, new school district, so it's like starting all over completely and a short week is necessary anywhere you are.

B decided to take Monday off with me which was so nice as he works non-stop! We didn't do too much this weekend, but it was still great. We took a ride around Lake George and the leaves were beautiful. I am going against the norm and NOT posting a picture of leaves changing!

I decided NOT to take out my phone and just enjoy the ride with Charley on my lap the majority of the way.

We came home and ordered Chinese while B continued to scrape the house and paint it with primer. Oh the exciting life of a teacher with constant work and a home-owner with endless projects.  All in all it was an amazing weekend. We had a GREAT talk and I think nothing but good things are to come with US <3 nbsp="" p="">
Happy Monday!

Noticing...

The sky from 5-5:30 am: This morning I was up and out by 5:12 am and it was wonderful. As groggy and hateful as I feel when my 4:52 am alarm goes off, once I am up and out I curse myself for not jumping out of bed before my alarm to enjoy the calm and peace and wellness I feel. My day is better from then on. The sky this morning was incredible. It was as though I could see each individual star and the moon. It made for a brisk start, but so worth the view. B was even outside with Charley when I got home and we looked up and enjoyed it together for a brief moment before we started our work days. It's the little things.

That is not that cold:  When my alarm goes off, I also immediately check my weather app. When it said 36 a few mornings ago, I didn't hesitate to reset my alarm for 5:30 and skip the early run. However, it's not that bad. Especially when you get going...as with most things...today was 48 and wonderful.

How much I missed running: As evidenced by this whole post, I have missed running. There are no other words and thoughts for it. When I begin my day with a run it sets the tone for each minute that follows. I am a better person because of it. I am learning that it's okay that I took months off. I am not going to beat myself up over it. I am just going to enjoy the fact that I am indeed back.

The free spirit of Charley: My border collie/Australian Shepard mix puppy that we got in April is nothing but a free spirit. She runs with wild abandon with not a worry or a care. I wish I were more like her in so many ways. It hurts my heart when she's in her crate all day, but I take comfort in knowing that B gets home at noon to let her spirit run wild for a few moments and then when she sees me when I walk in the door there is nothing like it. She can barely contain herself. Since I have no children (yet) this is what it must feel like to be truly loved. I can't say there's much better than that!

The way words flow off the screen and directing into my soul: I have often, even in my minimal postings, speak of Kristin Armstrong. Like I mentioned before I have been away from the blogs that I follow with what could be consider religiousness. These words just spoke to me today: "If I run, I might not say something I regret. If I run, I might choose to stay connected rather than pull away. If I run, I might come up with a totally different option, invisible to me when I was overwhelmed or frustrated. If I run, I might forgive someone else, or possibly even myself. If I run, I might resurrect my gratitude. If I run, I might be able to see someone else’s point of view. If I run, I might decide to wait to respond another day. If I run, I might decide to think about something else entirely–because what I focus on expands. If I run, I might unravel the knot in my stomach and in my head. If I run, I might decide to choose love instead of ego or fear.  If I run, I might remember who I am, instead of reacting like the person I used to be. If I run, I might revive my confidence, tapping into my strength. If I run, I might regain perspective and see my problem as temporary. If I run, I might release my grip and wisely decide to let go. If I run, I might move in order to find stillness.
If I run, I am always, without fail, a better person than if I stay home." Kristin Armstrong-Mile Markers Blog on Runnersworld.com

Need more of this in my life.

Now that I am back to my school year schedule, I need to get the things I love back into my life. Like, writing this blog, posting pictures here, reading before bed, and RUNNING!

I can't believe TODAY was ONE YEAR ago since I ran the Wineglass marathon! I really haven't been running to speak of since then. This summer I was on a roll with running 3 days in a row 5K each day and then I took one step off our back step and BAM I was on the ground following a crunching sound and nearly passing out before I made it to my cell phone to call my parents to bring me to the urgent care center (I detest Glens Falls Hospital and wouldn't let my worst enemy go there).

So off we went, but it was just a sprain. Just a sprain that turned my foot and ankle black and took FOREVER to heal. It feels okay now so tonight I ventured out for my first fall run and FINALLY feel as though I have been bitten by the running bug! Thank God!

I needed to get back out there and I kind of picked a rough time to start given that the weather is changing rapidly, but I can still get a couple good months out of it and there was that one entire winter that I ONLY ran outside. I am sure my SGF girls will be out running and I will just have to make it a point to join them.

So, I am back and I plan on writing at least once a week. I am going to hold myself to that so it's an attainable goal and if I end up posting more than that great.

I have also been catching up on the blogs that I follow, which also made me want to come back. Another one of my teacher friends just started a blog about fashion and besides the fact that she is SO cute, the blog is AWESOME! Follow her at: https://fashionsmyfavoritesubject.wordpress.com/
You won't be disappointed.

On my way into the gym the other day.

Saturday Chilling

Today I worked hard and got out of the house first thing.  I planned on grocery shopping.  I went and got my man a Latte (which seems like a double negative, but he likes them).

Then I headed to Price Chopper-I loved it because it was very empty which is just how I like my grocery shopping to go.  Got a cartful and left.  Came home and emptied it out and headed to Glens Falls with my mom for a little small business Saturday shopping at the Troy Shirt Company!

Picked up this bag at the Glens Falls Farmer's Market
Only the first 100 people got one!
Boom!
I thought it would be a bit better than it was.  I am on the hunt for Christmas presents for co-workers...they had GREAT stuff, don't get me wrong.  Just nothing I was looking for.  We were both starving so we left there and went to Cooper's Cave for some Bluesberry Ale and some apps!  YUM!
French Onion Soup and Eggplant Fries...yes, that's what I said, EGGPLANT FRIES! O.M.G!

Simply can NOT go wrong with a pint of Bluesberry Ale

Then we headed next door to Bare Bones Furniture store.  They were having a major sale.  We got my love's mother a new bed and I scoped out a new King bed for us as well as some recliners and things like this:
What a beauty!
Then I came home and started dinner.  In the crock pot of course.  I am addicted to Pintrest and am convinced that it's going to get me through these cold winter months that I detest.  So, for tonight:  I am trying this one:
I highly doubt mine will look like this, but you never know unless you try!

Here's what it looked like when I started:

4 hours to go!
I will keep you posted with pics and with a review.

When I finished making that, I went to my next one.  If you have ever had Dunkaroos then you know you LOVE the frosting part.  Well here is make your own-also on Pintrest.  It was super easy.  One box of Funfetti Cake mix, 2 cups of plain yogurt, and half a container of Cool Whip and Voila!  SO good--little tangier because of the yogurt, but if you put it in the fridge for a few minutes it's so great!  Paired with some Scooby Snacks graham crackers...YES. PLEASE.

Oh yeah, I went there.
Hanging out with this girl while I am cooking...

It's Boo.

What are you up to this Saturday?

Still Thankful

I loved seeing everyone's posts about how thankful they were Thursday but what about today? I'm going to keep it going throughout the year.

Even though I posted about going to yoga and was so exited about it. It was cancelled. Drove all the way there and was ready to go and cancelled. I really had to practice patience and understanding. But it worked out in the end because I was able to spend some time with my love and go out to dinner. So it ended up better than I thought anyway. Here's to next Wednesday. As I said before my mom needs this now more than ever.

Here are some pics from my day Thursday:

Thankful for a man that will clean off my car!
He cleans off the car, I make breakfast-actually this was for my famous mashed potatoes that I bring for Thanksgiving!

Yum!

Breakfast (some were missing)

My future baby Daddy?! Looks like a natural to me!  Baby Rose

Oops...got into the paint :-)

Ahhhh....the air from the vent!

My crazy (future?!) Brother in law...

My first EVER Black Friday trip to Walmart...

If you see the woman and the man sitting down, yes, they DO want to kill me and I wasn't even in line LOL
Walked in, walked out!

What were you MOST thankful for this year?

Snowy Thoughts

The snow has started to fly.  As if you didn't know from everyone's Facebook, Twitter, and by looking out your window.  I went to Yoga at The Lemon Tree last night and it was a packed class.  The instructor was speaking directly to me once again, as if she always knows just what I need.  I signed my mom and I up for a beginner class which starts tonight.
My mom and I from the Half that I never ran. (HA!)

I can't wait.  I feel as though this is just what she needs right now.  She's stressed.  Feeling negative and her body is reflecting that.  I hope it works for her as much as it does for me!

Also, this weekend is the Troy Shirt Factory Open House!  Lemon Tree is having a sale on classes: $40 for a 5 class pass (normally $60!)  So hurry on over and get some!

What are your snowy thoughts?

What are you thankful for?

Is anyone reading this?

~Wineglass Marathon Weekend in Photos~

In no particular order, because I was too lazy to upload one picture at a time! Here are the pictures of marathon weekend!
One last picture of me ever remotely having a 6 pack, or close to it.  The only time is when I train for a marathon and who knows when that will happen again!

The marathon after party at our hotel.  It was lame, but I was exhausted and it was right before I got a massage so I didn't mind.
The ride home.  Beautiful foliage

Me after the marathon and ready for a long awaited cocktail.  Cupcake Moscato.

Cheers!  With my Momma!

Blurry photo of me with the spa sign at the hotel before my massage

Where I got my post marathon massage.  I'd highly recommend doing this by the way.
